Crafting a unique
brewery brand identity
Drop Beer is a new Sydney brewery named after the drop bear—a mythical, koala-like creature said to ambush tourists, often used as a humorous hoax.
The objective
To create a distinctive beer brand and label that embodies an Australian identity while playing on the Drop Bear concept, appealing to a wide audience across all ages and genders.
The solution
Recognising the drop bear as a fictional creature meant to entertain and frighten tourists, the design needed to strike a balance between fear and humour. A series of cheeky, playful illustrations was developed, featuring a recognisable koala set against eucalyptus tree branches and earthy tones that reflect the Australian landscape.
The outcome
The client loved the illustrations and custom fonts as the brand's core identity, with potential for merchandise use. The branch icon appeared on each beer label, creating a cohesive brand with Australian colours and drop bear stories. The custom font ensured consistency across all touchpoints.
